Saskia van den Berg-Jacobi, born in 1957, has been drawing and painting from childhood. The past 10 years she has worked with different materials and techniques.
She completed an orientation year at the art academy Minerva in Groningen, the Netherlands, followed by a degree of visual arts at the art center of Groningen. This is how she developed an interest in photography and working with iron and wood, besides painting.
She describes her way of working as ‘expression through impression’. Working with photo materials in her paintings is one of her challenges. The artwork created for IJM includes photographic material as well. She works on commission once in a while and enjoys using her creativity to work on themes.
Saskia provides workshops and art classes, stimulating her students’ creative development by drawing their attention towards variation in materials and techniques.
