Wilma Wagenaar graduated in 1986 as a 1st degree teacher at the Amsterdam Academy for Visual Arts (now Amsterdam University of the Arts, bachelor).
As a free artist and thinker/author she has been involved with various organizations that connect visual arts with the Christian faith. Her spiritual home is the Saint Paul’s Abbey at Oosterhout in the Netherlands, with the Chemin Neuf community.
As a teacher she has been connected to several high schools in the province of Gelderland and the Art Center H19 at Oosterhout. Besides these activities, she has always given private classes at her own workshop. For the CNV Arts League she organized the annual Week of Arts from 2008 until 2010 and in 2009 she taught at the Winter Academy.
Since 2008 she has been a teacher and organizer of art retreats, mentoring amateur artists who wish to professionalize.
Workgroups and boards continue to find ways to ask Wilma for her input, despite her dislike for meetings. As a board member of the platform Church & Art she helps organize conferences and expositions.
